News ‘Fake doctor’ plans protest against cop accused of impersonation

A former Ministry of Health worker, Martin Ugwu, who was dismissed from service in 2015 for impersonating a medical doctor, has written to the police for permission to lead a protest against one ASP Bernard Agada accused of certificate forgery and impersonation.

Ugwu  is currently facing a five-count charge at the Federal High Court, Abuja for stealing the Bachelor of Medicine certificate belonging to his friend, Davidson George,which he allegedly used to secure employment  with the health ministry where he worked for nine years before he was caught.

Ugwu in his letter to the police, which he signed as ‘Dr. George Davidson,’ said his group, Save the Soul and Eagles Eyes International Foundation, planned to protest against Agada who was accused of certificate forgery and impersonation.

In the letter dated September 5, 2017 and addressed to theFederal Capital Territory police commissioner, Ugwu described himself as the “international protest coordinator ofanti-corruption crusaders across the globe.”

He stated that the protest against Agada, which would holdfrom September 18 to 25, was meant to compel the policeto sanction the police officer in line with “disciplinary procedures of criminal act of the Police Service Act.”

The letter read, “We are groups of anti-corruption crusadersacross the globe with our focus on Africa and Nigeria in particular.“We are organising a protest march and the reason for this protest is the non-compliance of the Inspector-General ofPolice and the Chairman of the Police Service Commissionwith the constitution and disciplinary procedures of criminal act of the police service in respect of ASP Bernard Agada with criminal records of armed robbery, impersonation, forgery of certificates and illicit wealth.”

Asked if the police were in receipt of Ugwu’s letter, the FCT Police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, promised to check their records, but he had yet to provide an update asof the time of filing this report.
